Dr Matthew HislopDr Matthew Hislop

Dr Matthew Hislop is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sport Physicians having completed specialty training in the field of Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2005.

He graduated from the University of Queensland in 1997, and completed a Master’s thesis at Trinity College (Dublin) in 2003, examining exertional leg pain. He completed his specialty training in both Brisbane and Melbourne, allowing him exposure and experience to a number of sports and differing management approaches.

Dr Hislop is the team doctor for the Reds Rugby Academy. He was team physician for the Brisbane Broncos NRL squad from 2006-2011. He looks after the Australian Kayak and Canoeing team, and is involved in the care of a number of QAS squads, including Gymnastics and Netball. He is involved with coverage of the State of Origin curtain raiser games, and worked with Richmond Tigers (AFL) and the Melbourne Storm (NRL) in the past.

Dr Hislop manages medical problems and injuries affecting all body parts, but has a special interest in exertional leg pain. He has published research on Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome and is one of the few practitioners in South East Queensland who performs compartment pressure studies. Dr Hislop will perform PRP injections on appropriate patients.
