Joel graduated from Griffith University Gold Coast in 2006 with a Bachelor of Exercise Science. After completing practicum hours primarily in the Gold Coast Hospital cardiac clinical measurements unit, Mermaid beach sports Physiotherapy clinic, and with Safe and Healthy Solutions, Joel worked as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) at a private firm in Brisbane for two years.
Following this, Joel Completed a Masters in Business Administration whilst setting up Safe and Healthy People (sister company to Safe and Healthy Solutions), a Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology practice on the Gold Coast Specialising in the treatment of patients suffering from chronic disease or injury.
Joel is currently the strength and conditioning coach of Northcliffe surf lifesaving club. Northcliffe surf club have one the Australian Surf lifesaving titles since 2004 and have won multiple world championships.
In the last two years Joel has been a member of the Australian Kayak team.
He was the K1 200m paddler at the World Championships in Szeged (Olympic Qualification) for Australia and has been an AIS scholarship holder for the last year.
